It all started with a vision and good old fashion values
In 2014, Founder and Managing Director, Colin Hurdle, felt that the time was right for a different approach in freight cartage in and around Melbourne. Whilst there are many companies that require freight to be moved around Melbourne, they all need a cost-effective and accountable service. Many freight companies and freight brokers that use sub-contractors or owner drivers, happily squeeze the owners of vehicles to a point where it almost becomes unviable to run a vehicle for the large outlay many of them commit to coming into this industry, and usually end up cutting corners in maintenance, safety procedures and fatigue management just to make ends meet. These freight companies and freight brokers continue to take exorbitant fees and margins, many with no regard to the plight of the owner of the vehicle, both professionally and personally.
On the 7th October 2014, Kwickaz Logistics P/L was founded with 1 vehicle and 1 customer moving freight from Somerton to Brooklyn in Victoria, while also offering a full load Semi Trailer local metropolitan service. With Trust, Respect and Loyalty being our mantra, not only towards the customer but also treating the sub-contractors and owner drivers as customers, word spread quickly and the company grew rapidly.
In 2015 and with both customers and carriers benefiting from the vison created, Kwickaz Express P/L was established to cater for the needs of our current and new customers’ requirements for a reliable Victorian country network. Further improving in 2015, Kwickaz introduced online bookings and automated invoicing without increased costs to both customer and carrier.
In 2016, and with demand for an expanded network from our customers, we moved to new premises in Rowville, established Kwickaz Distribution P/L and Kwickaz Taxi Truck P/L to complement our current services, offering small storage, drop and go, depot pickups, cross docking, interstate, local Taxi Trucks, Express Country as well as a Heavy Haulage service to further compliment current services.
On the 1st January 2017, with further expansion plans afloat, a total restructure was completed and The Kwickaz Group P/L was established bringing all the branches under one banner enabling further savings to our customers whilst not effecting sub-contractors or owner driver's earnings. Air, sea, international as well as Australia wide local courier services and storage facilities were introduced, now giving The Kwickaz Group the ability to offer a 'one-stop shop' when it comes to freight in Australia and the “We Know Freight” slogan was released.
The values and visions first considered back before October 2014 are still in place today and with office staff totalling over 12 and a fleet of over 200 Australia-wide, everyone from our Managing Director through to our people at the 'coal face' all believe that by being honest with our clients and carriers, and respecting the trust that has been built along with that loyalty, is vital in today’s market. We can and will develop long-term relationships of mutual benefit and with further passion and discipline, we will be the most admired logistics group in Australia.
